Joseph Magher is a Managing Director at Makena and a member of the firm’s Investment Committee. Joseph leads Makena’s business development efforts and strategic client relationship management with a focus on family office partnerships and Endowment and Foundation (E&F) clients. He has successfully led the development and growth of our E&F and Outsourced CIO (OCIO) practice internally over the last ten years. Makena now partners with over 50 E&F clients, including more than 10 relationships in a fully outsourced capacity. Joseph also plays a senior leadership and management role within our Client Strategy Group which employs more than 20 professionals at the firm.
Joseph has over 20 years of investment experience. Prior to joining Makena in 2009, he worked at Morgan Stanley as a Vice President, advising institutions on their hedge fund portfolios as well as advising hedge funds on capital raising and strategic business matters. Previously, Joseph worked at Credit Suisse First Boston in Private Wealth Management advising high net worth families and foundations on alternative investments. He began his career at a Salomon Smith Barney affiliate in Buenos Aires, Argentina covering local pension funds and Latin America focused investment funds for four years. Joseph received a BA in Economics from University of Virginia and an MBA from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
