Adam Seymour, a Managing Director, joined Makena Capital start up a UK office and head up Makena’s activities in the EMEA region. Adam’s responsibilities at Makena span both investment and client strategy. On the investment side, as part of the marketable securities team, he will be focused on sourcing and underwriting absolute return, equity and credit managers. In addition, he will help maintain existing relationships and identify new investors throughout the region. Adam comes to Makena from the Qatar Investment Authority where he was Head of Absolute Return, responsible for manager selection and portfolio construction. As a senior member of the Fund Investments Department, Adam helped formulate strategic and tactical asset allocation, as well as chairing the department’s investment committee. Prior to this, Adam worked at HSBC and Morgan Stanley as an equity sell-side analyst covering the European integrated oil and gas companies. Adam started his career at the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies where he published numerous monographs on crude oil and oil product markets, including ‘The Oil Price and Non-OPEC Supplies’ 1990, and was Editor of the ‘The Oxford Energy Forum’. Adam is a CFA Charterholder and holds a Masters degree in development economics from London University.
